The ferry from Armadale (on Sleat, Skye) to Mallaig ploughs through choppy seas under a perfect April sky. Knoydart is in the middle distance, where snow-capped hills blend into the low cloud.
Medium: acrylic on painted board
Inspiration: a still life set up in Adam King’s studio. The studio is quite dark and I wanted to capture the changed darkened tones of the fruit and flowers. The ginger jar gave a splash of light in the background.

Inspiration: An acrylic painting by Peter Hicks titled ‘Garden by the Sea’. I was interested in how this free style would translate to another medium and in a smaller scale.
